HAIKYU!! The Dumpster Battle Movie: The “HAIKYU!! The Dumpster Battle” crossed the 10 billion yen mark at the box office, making it the 15th anime movie to reach this milestone. With over 6.99 million tickets sold as of April 30, the movie has secured its place as the 15th highest-grossing anime film and the 46th highest-grossing film overall in Japan. To celebrate this achievement, Toho Animation released a special video thanking fans for their support. The movie is produced by Toho Animation and animated by Production I.G. It continues the story of Shoyo Hinata and Tobio Kageyama as they face off against their rivals from Nekoma High in the highly anticipated “Dumpster Battle.”

“HAIKYU!!” is a Japanese manga series by Haruichi Furudate, serialized in Shueisha’s Weekly Shōnen Jump from February 2012 to July 2020. It tells the story of Shoyo Hinata, a determined young boy who dreams of becoming a great volleyball player despite his small stature. The manga was collected into 45 tankōbon volumes and has sold over 60 million copies as of September 2023. An anime television series adaptation by Production I.G. aired in multiple seasons from April 2014 to December 2020, totalling 85 episodes. The anime follows Hinata’s journey as he joins Karasuno High School’s volleyball club, forms a partnership with the talented setter Tobio Kageyama, and aims to lead his team to victory in various tournaments. The series has received the 61st Shogakukan Manga Award for the shōnen category. In February 2024, the anime film series titled “Haikyu!! Final” began its release, which will be the finale of the series. The first film was released in two parts, with the second yet to be announced. The series has been licensed for digital and home release in North America by Sentai Filmworks.
