India ranking in Global Slavery: The Walk Free Foundation recently released the report over global slavery , where they had commented that top countries in the G20, including India, China, Russia, Indonesia, Turkey, and the US, are chief contributors to world slavery due to their high volume of global trade of commodities and trade activity.

According to a report nearly 50 million people worldwide live in slavery where after COVID-19 there is a surge of 25% in it . Contributing factors of this rise are climate change, armed conflict, weak governance, where G20 countries factor about a major chunk of the global trade of slaves , where the global supply chain and increasing global trade is making the matter worse for countries
India ranking in Global Slavery: What is India stand over it?
India had made laws like the Bonded Labour Abolistion Act of 1976, which got later amended in 1985 which included contract and migrant workers, and the Central scheme for Rehabilitation of Bonded Labour, to prevent modern slavery. With it, under Art 23 forced labour is prosecutable by law.

Slavery is one of the bleak realities of humanity, in which many social and economy factor are there which make the mater worse and with egal loopholes and government corruption pose significant challenges to effectively work against it , including India.
