It was officially launched by PM Modi at the 2019 UN Climate Action Summit. Since its inception, CDRI has steadily expanded its membership, with various countries joining the coalition to contribute to its mission. The CDRI corpus received financial backing, and the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) was tasked with establishing the interim secretariat.
