Under ‘Operation Samudragupt’ NCB seized Rs 40,000 crore clear meth
NCB seized Rs 40,000 crore in sea: In the recent campaign against global war against drugs, the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) recently seized Rs 40,000 crore worth of methamphetamine in the Bay of Bengal under Operation Samudragupt. This successful operation was the result of a year-long campaign against the global drug trade. In February 2022, a joint operation between the NCB and the Indian Navy led to the seizure of 529 kg of hashish, 221 kg of methamphetamine, and 13 kg of heroin in the high seas off the coast of Gujarat. These drugs were sourced from Baluchistan and Afghanistan. It is believed that the drug cartel is operated by Haji Salim from Pakistan, who is currently being tracked by Indian intelligence agencies.
What it is seized-methamphetamine
Methamphetamine is a highly addictive stimulant drug that affects the central nervous system. It increases the levels of dopamine, norepinephrine, and serotonin in the brain, resulting in feelings of pleasure, euphoria, and increased energy. Methamphetamine is classified as a Schedule II drug, which means it has a high potential for abuse and dependence. It can be smoked, snorted, injected, or taken orally. Methamphetamine use can lead to a range of physical and mental health problems, including increased heart rate and blood pressure, rapid breathing, hyperthermia, insomnia, paranoia, anxiety, and aggression. Long-term use can cause significant damage to the brain, including memory loss, cognitive impairment, and neurological disorders. Due to its addictive nature and harmful effects, methamphetamine is illegal in most countries and is a major target of law enforcement efforts to combat drug trafficking and abuse.
What it is for India
The NCB’s recent success in seizing a massive amount of drugs from the high seas off the coast of Gujarat is a significant step forward in the global fight against drug trafficking. This operation demonstrates the effectiveness of cooperation between law enforcement agencies and the Indian Navy in targeting and intercepting drug shipments. It is also a reminder of the ongoing challenges posed by drug cartels operating across borders and the need for continued international efforts to combat drug trafficking. The NCB’s success in Operation Samudragupt is a testament to the dedication and hard work of law enforcement personnel and a step towards creating a safer and healthier world for all.
