On Thursday, the filmmaker took to his X handle to quote tweet “Haha, this is so ironic. Indian towns are ugly, inconvenient, uncomfortable, inefficient, and unsafe. We’ve completely failed at town planning.” Reacting to this comment, multiple online people agreed with the filmmaker Vivek Agnihotri, while others supported the town planners and accused illegal encroachments and constructions related to the present Dristi IAS scandal.

Recently, the filmmaker Vivek Agnihotri ridiculed the new Parliament building, Institute of Town Planners as water started getting clogged due to recent heavy rainfall after Delhi received heavy rainfall on 31 July and in the wee hours of August 1. Due to heavy rainfall, the new Parliament building resulted in waterlogging in several localities of Delhi-NCR even after the IMD issued warnings of periodic showers in coming up August 5. The director of The Kashmir Files Vivek Agnihotri shared visuals of water being pumped out from these locations. On the other hand, Vivek Agnihotri ridiculed the town planning of the capital of India and shifted the culpability to illegal encroachment and construction for the waterlogging issues. The former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav also supported the filmmaker on the issue and suggested that we should return to the old Parliament building until issues with the new one were resolved. Responding to criticism, the Lok Sabha Secretariat responded to the criticism where they released an official notice that the leakage was due to the expulsion of sealant used to fix glass domes over the entrance during hefty rains.
